WE alert for REOPENING BORDERS IN CUBA!

2021

Dear Friends,

We would like to inform you that the Cuban Embassy in Portugal has announced that Cuba will reopen borders to international tourism as of today, allowing foreigners vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter the country, who no longer have to undergo a period of quarantine and must submit a negative PCR test.

In a message sent to the press, which is signed by Mercedes Martínez Valdés, Cuban Ambassador to Portugal, it is read that “the Cuban State will carry out the controlled reopening of the borders from November 15, 2021”, date on which 90 % of the Cuban population over two years old will already be vaccinated against COVID-19, while workers in tourism, transport, immigration, aviation, customs and health will have already received a booster dose of the vaccine.

Mercedes Martínez Valdés also explains that "those who do not present a vaccination certificate must present a negative PCR test on arrival carried out no more than 72 hours before boarding". vaccination or PCR test, with the indication that "random PCR tests may still be carried out at the airport upon arrival".

Anyone who arrives in Cuba with symptoms of COVID-19 should be referred to a health institution, where a PCR test will be performed to confirm the infection. Epidemiological surveillance will be maintained in hotels and rental houses.

The use of a face mask remains mandatory at airports and all port terminals in the country.
