WE celebrate WORLD RADIO DAY!

2021

Today is celebrated the WORLD RADIO DAY and we could not fail to CONGRATULATE and THANK you for all the ENTERTAINMENT that professionals in this area provide us and the COMPANY that make us daily!

"It is not true that I had nothing, I had the radio on." Marilyn Monroe.

The first steps towards the discovery of radio began to be taken in 1863, when in England, James Clerck Maxwell theoretically demonstrated the probable existence of electromagnetic waves. The first World Radio Day was celebrated in 2012 and the choice of this date is due to the fact that, in 1946, United Nations Radio first broadcast a program for a group of 6 countries.

In Portugal, the first broadcasting experiences were made by Marconi, in 1894, and paved the way for the countless radio broadcasts of our day. The radio pioneer was Fernando Gardelho Medeiros, when in 1914 he created Rádio Hertz. After the revolution of April 25, 1974, all radio stations in Portugal are nationalized, with the exception of Rádio Renascença. In 1976 the National Broadcaster changed its name to Rádio Difusão Portuguesa (RDP). Since then, many other radio stations have been created in Portugal, and have also come to occupy an important place in Internet broadcasts.

Many voices have passed through the radios of our country and we highlight some that you will never forget: Júlio Isidro, Artur Agostinho, António Sala and Olga Cardoso.

It is also important to let you know two emblematic and important names of the radio in my beloved homeland, Angola: Guilherme Ysenbout Mogas, who directed the Technical Area of Radio Nacional de Angola after independence in 1975, and was later appointed Director-General of the ANN in the period 1983-1990. Luísa Fançony, who also worked at RNA, and in 1992, was co-founder of Luanda Antena Comercial (LAC) radio, of which she is Director-General, being the only woman in Angola to direct a radio station! To both of them, in a very special way, our GRATITUDE for all the legacy they leave us!

A huge HUUUUUUG! Fátima C. Brízio
